Vet consultations for dogs and cats in Ashgrove
When something is not quite right with your pet—or you simply want reassurance that they are healthy—a veterinary consultation is the best place to start.
At Ashgrove Avenue Vet, we take the time to listen to your concerns, examine your pet thoroughly and explain what we find in clear, practical language. Where further investigation or treatment is recommended, we will talk you through the options so you can make an informed decision for your pet and your family.
Our veterinary clinic has cared for the Ashgrove community since 1972. We welcome dogs and cats from Ashgrove, The Gap, Bardon, Paddington and surrounding Brisbane suburbs.
When should I book a vet consultation?
You can book an appointment whenever you are concerned about a change in your pet’s health, behaviour or comfort. Common reasons include:
- vomiting, diarrhoea or a change in appetite
- coughing, sneezing or breathing changes
- itchy skin, hair loss, lumps or ear problems
- limping, stiffness or signs of pain
- drinking or urinating more than usual
- weight loss or weight gain
- changes in behaviour, energy or sleeping habits
- eye problems or dental concerns
- ongoing health conditions or medication reviews
- general health checks and preventive care advice
Pets often hide pain and illness, so even a subtle change can be worth checking. If you are unsure how urgently your pet needs to be seen, phone our team on (07) 3366 6666 for guidance.
What happens during a consultation?
Your veterinarian will ask about your pet’s symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, diet and any medications or preventatives they receive. They will then perform a physical examination tailored to your pet and the reason for the visit.
Depending on the findings, your vet may recommend treatment, monitoring, diagnostic tests or a follow-up appointment. Our clinic offers services including in-house clinical pathology and diagnostic imaging, helping us investigate many health concerns without unnecessary delay. If specialist care is the best next step, we can arrange a referral.
Ongoing, personalised veterinary care
Good veterinary care is not only about treating illness. Regular health checks help us understand what is normal for your pet, identify changes earlier and tailor preventive care as their needs change through every life stage.
We value continuity of care and careful communication. Wherever possible, we encourage follow-up with the veterinarian managing your pet’s condition, supported by a team that knows their history.
